Lanzarote in Brief
Known as the Volcanoes Island, Lanzarote has around 300 craters. Just 60km from north to south and only 21km at its widest point the island has a population of only 100,000 people.
The climate is generally very mild with average temperatures ranging from 18°C in the winter to 23°C during the summer. The sea temperatures are often only a few degrees lower.
With large areas of flat land, Lanzarote is the least mountainous of the Canary Islands and because of its low level Lanzarote enjoys a dry climate with little rain.
Beaches
Lanzarote has around 250km of coastline, including the 55km belonging to the tiny surrounding islands. Around the coast is a mix of spectacular cliffs, gravel coves and many golden sandy beaches.
Of special note are the long, family friendly, sandy beach at Puerta del Carmen and the beautiful white sands of Playa Blanca where many of our Lanzarote self catering villas and Lanzarote self catering apartment properties are located.
Countryside
Away from the coastal resorts of Lanzarote, the lava fields provide some spectacular scenery, although other areas of the island are surprisingly green. Worth a special mention are the lava fields in the Timanfaya National Park where the lava flows can be seen at close quarters on the popular and spectacular bus ride.
Towns
The islands many small towns provide a range of interesting shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment.
Things to do
A must for water sports enthusiasts and those who love outdoor activities, Lanzarote has something for everyone.
